Bhakkar (Balochistan News) – Under the Green Pakistan Initiative, barren and sandy land in Bhakkar has been transformed into a modern agricultural and export-oriented center.
According to the project, progress toward innovation in the agriculture sector, increased exports, and self-sufficiency is ongoing.
CEO Pantera Limited Pantera Limited Furqan Ali Akhtar said that a modern agricultural farm spread over 1,800 acres was completed in just 60 days, marking a record achievement.
He added that 13 central pivot irrigation systems and a 2.4-megawatt hybrid solar system have been installed to establish the irrigation network on the farm.
Chief Operating Officer of Pantera Farms Pantera Farms Farooq Saeed said that the land, which a few months ago consisted of sand dunes rising 20 to 50 feet, has been converted into cultivable land in a short period of time.
He said that out of the total area, wheat and Rhodes grass are being cultivated on 1,300 acres, while exports of Rhodes grass are also underway.
Officials said that without the support of the Green Pakistan Initiative, infrastructure assistance, and timely resolution of issues, the launch of this project would not have been possible. Through Green Agri Mall, transparent supply of quality seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural facilities is also being ensured.
Organizers said that with collaboration from Chinese companies, hybrid seeds have been introduced in Pakistan, which are contributing to increased agricultural productivity.
