FIFA decides to give Afghan women footballers a new chance to return to international competitions

Lahore (Sports Desk) FIFA has taken an important decision to provide Afghan women footballers with a new opportunity to participate in international competitions.

Under this decision, Afghan players who were forced to leave their country after the Taliban came to power will now be able to play football again at the global level.

The Afghanistan women’s national team has not played any official international match since the Taliban took control in 2021, as strict restrictions were imposed on women’s education, employment, and sports afterward.

Due to these circumstances, many talented players were either forced into exile or had to step away from the sport.

Under FIFA’s new strategy approved last year, the Afghan Women United team was formed, which is providing organized opportunities for Afghan women players living abroad to compete at the international level.
