Islamabad High Court proceedings affected due to Red Zone closure; hundreds of cases delayed

Islamabad (Balochistan News Desk) Due to the security situation related to Iran–US negotiations, no hearings could take place at the Islamabad High Court during the current week.

According to Express News, the continuous closure of the Red Zone has affected judicial work at the High Court, and from Monday to Thursday not a single case hearing was conducted, resulting in hundreds of cases being postponed.

Sources said even important cases could not be heard, including applications for suspension of sentence in the £190 million case, which were scheduled for April 22 but the cause list was cancelled.

Similarly, hearings of cases related to tree cutting in Islamabad, which were scheduled for today, also could not be held.

It was further reported that due to austerity measures, court proceedings are already not held on Fridays, which has further worsened the situation.

Meanwhile, with the possibility of judges’ transfers next week, delays in case proceedings are expected to increase further, while lawyers and litigants are facing serious difficulties in rescheduling their cases.
