Lahore (Balochistan News) Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that the use of modern construction technology can effectively reduce the risks of natural disasters, including earthquakes.
In her special message on the International Day of Disaster Victims, she expressed solidarity with victims of natural disasters in Pakistan and around the world and paid tribute to those affected by the 2005 Kashmir earthquake.
The Chief Minister Punjab said that the memories of those who lost their lives in this tragedy are still alive today, and the government shares the grief of affected families.
She said that strong infrastructure, comprehensive planning, and public awareness are extremely important to reduce the impact of natural disasters. According to her, including disaster-related chapters in the curriculum under the Pakistan School Safety Framework is a positive step.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated that the government is investing in modern technologies such as Geographic Information Systems and satellite modeling to improve the ability to respond to disasters in a timely manner.
She further said that the Punjab government has taken effective measures for disaster prevention and rehabilitation, and during recent floods, relief and rehabilitation activities were completed in record time, creating a sense of security among the public.
