Islamabad (Health Desk) The Central Drugs Laboratory Karachi of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has successfully obtained prequalification from the World Health Organization (WHO), marking an important milestone in the country’s healthcare system.
According to a spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, after this certification, the standard of drug testing in Pakistan has been recognized at an international level. The testing services of DRAP now meet WHO’s strict standards, and medicines tested here will be considered safe, effective, and of high quality.
Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal congratulated DRAP and the technical team of the Central Drugs Laboratory Karachi on this achievement, calling it a fundamental milestone in government health reforms.
He said the government is committed to developing a comprehensive healthcare system rather than limiting it only to treatment, with disease prevention and quality as core priorities.
According to the Health Minister, laboratory testing of medicines in line with international standards is the first line of defense for protecting public lives. He added that this achievement will also open new competitive opportunities for Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry in global markets.
