Dubai/Abu Dhabi (Monitoring Desk) The United Arab Emirates has made an important change in its ministerial development structure by renaming the “Ministerial Development Council” to the “Ministerial Council for Artificial Intelligence and Development”.
According to Al Khaleej, this directive was issued by Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in line with the vision of President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, while the new council will be headed by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The report states that this decision is part of a new government work model aimed at making 50 percent of the UAE’s government sectors, services and operations AI-based and automated within the next two years.
The main objective of this initiative is to improve government performance, policy making, innovation, flexibility and the speed of service delivery, while maintaining human involvement as a central element.
The new council will monitor the policies, national priorities and implementation of government plans of ministries and federal institutions, and will review legislation and strategies before submitting recommendations to the Cabinet.
It has also been stated that this body will promote the use of artificial intelligence in key sectors such as health, education, housing, infrastructure, transport, energy and communications to make public services faster, more efficient and more modern.
